CES received a Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence today for our ongoing Second Grade plastic recycling project! Thank you to the Second Grade students and staff, as well as Rhonda Hicks from the Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation for their efforts. And a huge thank you to our families and community members who continue to save and send in their plastic for recycling! Today in Indianapolis, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Hicks presented about our program and accepted an award on the school's behalf!

Cougar of the Month
Our September winner is Mrs. Skinner, nominated by Ruby Powlen. Ruby says, “I would like to nominate Mrs. Skinner because she always helps me out when I’m late for school and I don’t feel good. She also helps me a lot with my anxiety. When I see her in the hallways she is always so joyful and always makes people smile when they might be having a bad day. Mrs. Skinner is always a happy Carroll Cougar to be by.”
Mrs. Skinner will receive flowers from Flowers and Friends and her and Ruby will receive gift cards from the Lion’s Club.

PTO meeting today! Our monthly PTO meeting this evening at 7:00 (in the CES library), everyone interested in being involved in PTO this year is welcome!
Kindergarten students love to learn and explore colors each fall! All families, students and staff are invited to join them by wearing scheduled colors this week and next.
We are looking for book fair volunteers for the week of September 25-29. If you have availability (especially in the afternoon) please email Mrs. Click (aclick@carroll.k12.in.us) or call us at 574-967-4881. Thank you for helping us spread the love for great books while helping us raise money for new books in our school library.
Our kindergarten students are continuing to learn their colors, which is a great time to have dress up days! Everyone is invited to join in by dressing in the color of the day!!! (see picture for details)

Cougar P.R.I.D.E. week is our formal yearly kickoff where we celebrate our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) system. During this week we will have fun and highlight ways our students can be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. Students this year will earn Cougar Paws for demonstrating these behaviors around the building!
